Brandy’s 5-year-old Birthday Wish

It is sooooo funny…  Before Brandy blew out the candles on his birthday cake, we asked him to make a wish.  So he closed his eyes, made a wish and laughed.  He blew out the candles and then since I am standing right behind him, he whispered to me, “Daddy, it is a secret, do you know what I wished for?”  I said, “No, what?”…

Canadian’s Salary vs American’s Salary Statistics

I came by this news a few days ago. It is a study about Canadian salary conducted by Statistics Canada. Here are some highlights:

  • “An annual income of $89,000 was enough to put an individual among the 1.2 million Canadians who made up the top 5% of the country’s taxfiler population in 2004, according to a new study.”
  • “they accounted for 25% of total income.”
  • 1.2 million Canadians who comprised the top 5% of income recipients…”

The taxman are Watching Your Ebay (Canada) Sales

I just read an article from Globe and Mail about CRA (Canada Revenue Agency) won a Federal Court order requiring eBay Canada Ltd. to turn over the names, addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses of all high-volume sellers on the popular website.

The investigation is targeting sellers who are in the PowerSeller program in 2004 – 2005. To be qualified as a Power Seller, sellers must have at least $1,000 sales a month.

Even Rachel Knows How “Good” my Sense of Direction is…

Last week, I was driving downtown with my GPS to my friend’s wedding banquet. (yes, Downtown Toronto, I still need a GPS). I was at at an intersection and the GPS said, “Keep left” It is confusing… Usually it will say “turn left” instead of “keep left” if you need to make a turn. So I just stayed on the left lane…

A Word A Day 每日一字: Farther and Further

I was looking up the spelling of “farther” when I wrote my previous post, so of course, I googled. The first result is quite interesting. It actually tells you the different between further and farther. From the link:

FARTHER denotes physical advancement in distance.
FURTHER denotes advancement to greater degree, as in time.

Rachel Knows All our Tricks…

We were walking around in Ontario Place last night (Lantern Festival). Towards the end of the trip, the kids were all tired. Of course Rachel is the first to ask me to hold her, so she asked, “Daddy can you hold me?” …

Then Winnie told her, “Rachel, we are almost done and the exit is really close. Just a few more steps ok?” (It is about 10 minutes walk)

Mattel Recalled Toys Research Report Posted on University of Western Ontario (Canada)

I was reading some comments from digg.com about the Mattel Apology news. It is along the line where Mattel is “forced” to apologize otherwise they will put their coming Christmas season in jeopardy… I really don’t know on what does the writer base his accusation? Anyways, this gives me enough motive to google the research report, and I FOUND IT on University of Western Ontario website :) …

Finally Mattel Admits the Truth Behind the Recalls…

From my previous entry, I have been saying “Mattel shouldn’t use others’ mistakes to cover up its own.”. Here is what I have read from NewsFactor.com.

  • “”And Mattel takes full responsibility for these recalls and apologizes personally to you, the Chinese people, and all of our customers who received the toys,” Debrowski said.” (Thomas A. Debrowski, Mattel’s executive vice president)
  • “Debrowski acknowledged that “vast majority of those products that were recalled were the result of a design flaw in Mattel’s design, not through a manufacturing flaw in China’s manufacturers.”"

Questioning Technique Learned From Radio

I was listening to a radio show yesterday and the host was questioning one of the Ontario Election Candidates Michael Chan of Ontario Liberal Party. I don’t really have a good impression from this particular host but he did give me a surprise. Here is part of the interview…
